Anthony and Cathy Hill
Renaissance of Marriage Talk:
Cathy and Anthony have been married for 28 years and are blessed with three children aged 20, 18 and 15. As a family they have been active in their parish of Our Lady of Fatima, Kingsgrove for over 20 years.
Originally meeting at an Antioch weekend in 1984, they were married in 1988, living initially in Melbourne until returning to Sydney in 1996 prior to the birth of their first child. As a couple they have been involved in a variety of parish ministries including Parish Pastoral Council, Finance Committee, Ministry of Mothers and Babies, Baptism Preparation, Sacramental Preparation home groups.
In Jan 2003 they travelled to the Philippines as a family to participate in the 4th World Meeting of Families, and represented the families of Oceania at the Closing Mass.
Cathy and Anthony first attended a SmartLoving Marriage weekend in 2008 which changed the way they viewed their relationship and vocation based on new insights into church teaching and practical strategies. Realising the strength of the SmartLoving program and the importance of marriage preparation and ongoing enrichment to couples, their families and the wider community they became SmartLoving Mentors in late 2008. They estimate they have mentored over 45 couples individually or in groups since 2008.
Mentoring is a practical way of enriching the lives of engaged and married couples and building stronger families and our catholic communities. It also helps keep them better connected as a married couple.
Professionally, Cathy holds a degree in Pharmacy. Anthony holds degrees in Engineering and Management and is currently Director of the Evangelisation Project for the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney.
