Peter was a senior manager from a large telecommunications business.
11 years ago, he cofounded menAlive, a Catholic ministry for men and retired at 57 from his engineering career to pursue this voluntary work full time as director of formation. This ministry has given 320 retreats to more than 18,000 men since its beginnings in parishes in each state of Australia and New Zealand with interest also being shown in this work from the Canada, UK, USA and Africa.
He has been married to Marian, a Secondary school teacher, for 36 years and has 5 married adult sons and 7 grandchildren. He has also pursued a lifelong interest as a committed Catholic in making the Christian Gospel relevant in contemporary society. He has a Graduate Diploma in Ministry from St Paul’s Theological College in Brisbane and completed a Masters in Theology in 2011 at ACU.
He has been involved in pastoral work in the Church for more than 40 years with a focus on building Christian communities and has spoken at conferences the Australia, NZ, USA, PNG and in South East Asia.
He has a keen interest in Ignatian Spirituality and has completed the 3 year Arrupe programme, training as a giver of the Ignatian Exercises in Daily life and serves on the Faber Team in Brisbane. He is an experienced giver of the Exercises and in 2015 he completed a 6 week Immersion Course at the Cave of St Ignatius International Centre for Ignatian Spirituality at Manresa in Spain.
